Is It Interlinking or Is It Intralinking

Studying linking strategies, I am confused by the use of the term interlinking.

Intuitively, I understand cross linking to be linking between or across domains. And, I understand interlinking to be synonymous with cross linking.

However, in many discussions around the internet it seems as if the term cross linking is defined as linking between domains and interlinking refers to linking within a domain. It is counter intuitive.

Intralinking is more appropriately related to linking within a domain. I have been told that Google has set the precedence by using interlinking to refer to internal links and thus the use of interlinking.

I have searched throughout Google’s documentation and find no reference to interlinking as a definition for internal linking within a domain. I have been told that one exists. I have found repeated references to internal links, but the term, internal links, is spelled out in Google’s documentation and is not referred to as an ‘interlink’.

Which correctly defines linking within a domain, interlinking or intralinking? And, can anyone verify that Google uses the term interlinking to refer to internal links?

Some argue that since Google searches are predominantly page oriented, then those links could arguably be considered ‘interlinked’ pages on the same domain and links within and on the same page referencing links on that same page could be called ‘intralinks’.

I disagree.

The boundary of the link is the domain, not the pages. Links within a page and links between pages on the same site are within the domain, not outside of it.

An example, interstate highways are between states; an intrastate highway connects cities within the state and is bounded by the state lines. An intrastate highway can connect two or more communities that are geographically adjacent and have different names, as in a metropolis, but it is still an intrastate highway. That intrastate highway does not keep its name when and if crosses the state boundary

If indeed Google has set a precedence, then I say we squelch it. The use of interlinking to mean linking within a domain is counter intuitive. It confuses those who know the definitions of ‘inter’ and ‘intra’ and it misleads those that are trying to learn article marketing .

Article Spinning – What You Should Know!

I am fascinated by spinning articles. I have made some observations that I would like to share with you. I think a good article rewriting software tool is a smart tool to have, but I also think some newer article marketers may expect the tool to do their writing for them. They may not be aware of some its limitations and how it works.

If you decide to use one be aware that many on the market are useless. They replace words randomly with synonyms or with a thesaurus and generate gibberish. If you choose to use article rewriting software make absolutely sure that you have complete control of the output and the input.

Maybe this will help explain what article spinners do and what some of their limitations are.

Let’s take a simple example. One original article with three paragraphs (1, A, and X). If your reword each of the paragraphs with two rewritten versions, you now have two additional articles with reworded paragraphs (2BY and 3CZ).

Article #1:  1 A X

Article #2:  2 B Y

Article #3:  3 C Z

You can now swap paragraphs, keeping the order of the pargraphs to make new articles. For instance, I can create an article with paragraphs 1, B, and Z and it would make sense.

But, I cannot have an article with three paragraphs 1, 2, and 3 because the article would consist of the first paragraph of each of the three versions saying the same thing only in different words.

I couldn’t create an article with paragraphs1, B, and C because the second and third paragraphs would be the same second paragraph from versions #2 and #3 using different words. Make sense?

New Articles:

1AX,1AY,1AZ,1BX, 1BY,1BZ, 1CX, 1CY,1CZ
2AX, 2AY, 2AZ, 2BX, 2BY, 2BZ, 2CX, 2CY, 2CZ
3AX, 3AY, 3AZ, 3BX, 3BY, 3BZ, 3CX, 3CY, 3CZ

A total of 27 new articles including the originals! The number of possible combinations is the number of articles you create raised to the power of the number of paragraphs in the article. In this case, 3X3X3 = 27. If you had 5 paragraphs and you changed all 5, then the number of possible articles would be 3X3X3X3X3 = 243 articles. NOTE: This formula only works if you change all of the paragraphs in your article.

The problem, of course, is determining the uniqueness of the article content or, in other words, how much duplicate content exists in these articles.

The best human controlled article spinner is here.

We know that we have three 100% unique articles because we created them. What about the other 24?

We know that none of the 24 will be better than approximately 66% unique or 34% duplicate content of the original article (1AX). Why? Because there were only 3 paragraphs changed. None of the articles can have more than two different paragraphs. Two of three paragraphs equals 66%.

If you had only 2 paragraphs to change in a 2 paragraph article, none of the articles would be better than approximately 50% unique. If you had 10 paragraphs and changed all 10, the percentage would reach about 90% uniqueness. The more paragraphs the greater the uniqueness. I say approximately because the software algorithms used to compute uniqueness varies.

Another word of caution, the uniqueness of the articles is measured against the original article,1AX, NOT among themselves. So, which ones are unique and which are not? You need an article content software tool to tell you. Content comparison software is available that allows you to choose how many consecutive words, sentences or paragraphs you want to set as a minimum.

In the previous example of the 24 spun articles you will find that around half of them are 70% unique or better, if you set the measurement at 3 consecutive sentences. I choose 3 sentences because most of my paragraphs are that length.

70% is pretty good. Depending on your intent you may want to check the spun articles against one another. But again, depending on your intent that may not matter to you. When you consider that many people submit the same article to multiple directories, what’s a little duplication?

There is only one Article Spinner that I know of that delivers what it promises and it’s cheap! Click on that link and find out why!

Looking For the Top Spinner?

If you are an article marketer you are probably looking for the top article spinner on the market. Let me warn you spinning an article and rewriting an article are different. This article will explain the difference.

Have you ever read one of those spun articles? They do not always make sense. You may get the gist of the article, but after reading a few lines, it becomes obvious to a native speaker that either the author is a foreigner or the author is on hallucinogenic drugs.

To get quality content you must be able to control what goes in and what comes out. Automated spinners with synonym and thesaurus substitution do not allow it. It would be great if they did. Can you imagine the increase in article production?

If you rewrite your articles, you can use them for PDF files and e-books. You can post without fear of duplication on your blogs or websites. Your bounce rate will most likely drop because readers will find different and unique material hopping from an article to your blog or website.

Submitting your same article to many different directories is the norm. Imagine the advantage you can have over other writers by submitting different versions to those directories. The search engines would love it.

Your readers would too. If they hopped over to your site after reading one of your articles on the web, it would decrease your bounce rate if the reader found fresh content on the site. Wouldn’t it?

Manually rewriting articles for multiple distribution is not practical. It would take hours to produce 10-20 or more rewritten articles. This is where rewriting and spinning meet. New technology now allows you to have 100% control of the content.

There is no doubt that distributing unique articles for mass distribution is good for business. Unlike spinning, rewriting attracts customers. Yet, it is not practical to rewrite more than one or two. To get the job done you need help.

I know of only one article spinner that delivers what it promises, Rapid Rewriter.

How to Rewrite Articles – 10 Tips

This short article gives some tips and ideas on how to rewrite articles. Rewriting articles is one smart way to re-package your articles for posting to multiple directories, your blog, and forums. Rewrite articles to create free reports for your readers.

There’s is nothing more frustrating than reading an article you found interesting and then following the link where you expect to find more interesting material only to find the same article when you get to the new site. It happens for one of two reasons.

One, the author is lazy and doesn’t really care. Or, two, the author doesn’t know any better. You can solve the problem by directing your reader to a different page or post on your site or by rewriting the original article. This article gives some tips on how to rewrite articles.

It first happened to me on my own site. I found an old article of mine on the internet and followed the link to test it. Was I surprised to find that I was directed to the same article on my own website! Not good! Has this ever happened to you?

Being a newbie, it never crossed my mind that I was directing readers to the same article. I am now a firm believer in rewriting articles. Some call it “spinning”. I don’t. There is a difference. Spinning articles implies an automated regurgitation of an original article, either yours are someone else’s doing that is a waste of your time and money.

Watch this video on Article Rewriting Software.

Rewriting articles is just that, rewriting your articles. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when rewriting articles.

  1. Do your rewriting right after you write the original. It is fresh in your memory and easier to come up with alternatives.
  2. Rewrite paragraph by paragraph.
Use synonyms or rearrange the sentences.
  3. Take advantage of unused keywords. Use them in your rewritten article.
  4. Do not limit your changes to just words, phrases, or sentences. Change a paragraph at a time.
  5. For best results, change all the paragraphs. Write at least two versions for each paragraph, more is better.
  6. With two or more versions and a quality rewriting tool, you can easily generate 10-20 new unique articles.
  7. Do not use article “spinning software” that randomly replaces words with synonyms or that uses a thesaurus. It is a waste of your time and money and it defeats your purpose. Most often it will result in gibberish.
  8. Rewriting your articles and submitting them to different directories increases your search engine optimization (SEO).
  9. Always check your work with a good comparison tool and check for uniqueness, 75% or better is ideal.
  10. Take advantage of unused keywords in your rewritten article

Remember, your intent is to give a reader a unique article to read. It may cover the same subject matter but it is different. The reader will be less likely to leave your site, if he/she is not reading the same words.

In addition to improving your SEO, rewriting decreases your website bounce rate. Readers are less likely to leave your site if they are reading something different.

I think you would agree that rewriting your original articles for multiple submissions makes sense.

Watch the video and read this page and decide for yourself.

The New ClickBank Marketplace

In case you haven’t noticed, ClickBank just changed its marketplace. Some love it, some hate it. Either way, I’m going to give you the five cent tour of what I feel are some of the things that could probably be made better. I’m a big ClickBank lover but I think there are a few items that need to be addressed. I’m going to cover them in this article.

At the top of the list of things that I feel need to be changed is the obvious attention being directed to the commission percent of each product. Right now, it’s pretty much the main thing that people see. And normally, I’d say that’s fine. But there is a big problem with drawing attention to commission percent above everything else.

When somebody sees a high commission percentage they’re likely to choose that product over one that has a lower percentage. It’s human nature. However, let’s do the math. Let’s say that you have a $50 product that has a 75% commission attached to it. If you do the math, that comes out to $37.50 per sale. Now, let’s take a $100 product with a 50% commission. That comes out to $50 per sale. If somebody is just looking at high commission rates, they’re going to miss the latter product and miss out on an additional $12.50 per sale. I’m not saying that one stat should be highlighted over another (it never was) but doing this is giving affiliates a distorted picture.

Another thing that I think needs to be looked at is the number of items that you can display per view. In the old system, you could view up to 50 products at a time. This made finding a product go a lot faster. Now, you are limited to just 10 per view. Therefore, you have to spend more time initiating searches than you did with the old system. I am hoping they will put this functionality back in.

Finally, and to me this is a big thing, there is no longer the option to view just new products. As somebody who is constantly on the lookout for new products, this functionality was a must have. Now, there is absolutely no way to tell what products are new. You can’t really go by gravity or affiliate percentage of anything like that because there are plenty of old products that don’t sell. Hopefully, this will be rectified as well.

I won’t comment on the aesthetics of the site because how people think it looks is totally subjective. What’s one person’s beautiful is another person’s ugly. So I just restricted my comments to the actual functionality of the site. And yes, sticking that big old commission percentage up there like a bulls eye IS functionality. It all depends on how you look at it.

Anyway, head on over to the new marketplace and see what you think of it. If you think changes should be made, let ClickBank know. I’m sure they ultimately want a positive user experience for everybody.

To YOUR Success,

How to Use MS Word to Write Better and Improve Sales – 3 Tips

Would you like to write better and sell more? Sure, you would. You can. You can use MS Word to help you. This article will show you three simple yet often overlooked tips using MS Word to help you achieve clearer, better writing and make more money.

Here are three MS Word tools to improve your articles.

1. Check your spelling – This seems obvious. Still many do not use their spell checker. If you use a plain text editor to create your articles, you can easily overlook even the most common of spellings.

Simply copy your text from the plain text editor, like notepad or word pad, and copy it to your word processor and do a spell check. You will be surprised at the misspelled words you may have overlooked.

2. Write at a fifth to seventh grade level. – Use the MS Word Spelling and Grammar checker found under the Review Tab at the top of the MS Word page to determine the age level that you are writing for. After selecting the spell checker and completing the spell check, it will ask you if you want to continue checking the rest of the document.

Respond with yes and a box will pop up called Readability Statistics. At the very bottom of the box is the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level score. You want that score to be between fifth and seventh grade level. Most of your readers will read at that level. If it is a higher grade level, edit with simpler words.

3. Passive sentences – That same box will also give you the number of passive sentences in your article. You want to keep this at a minimum. You should keep passive sentences to no more than two or three for every five-hundred words. There is nothing wrong with passive sentences and there is no hard fast rule to the number of passive sentences you should use. But, you do want to make your sentences action oriented to help the reader move easily throughout the body of your article.

We have looked at three tips that you can use to improve the quality of your articles and ultimately salability of your articles. Keep in mind that content is king and no tools can create unique quality content like you can.

Article Writing – Passive Voice is a Good Choice Over Active Voice – 3 Reasons Why

You must be asking, “What in the world is he talking about?” In article writing the rule is active over passive voice, always. Well, that is a good rule. Yet, we overlook the fact that passive has its place and sometimes is a good choice over active voice. Passive can be a preferable construction.

Besides being sometimes preferable, passive voice can also be profitable. Here are three reasons for choosing passive over active voice.

  • Variety
  • Emphasis
  • Keywords

Variety

Active should be the predominant verb voice that you use throughout your article. It does help the reader understand what you are trying to say. It forces sentences to be more concise.

However, an article that uses active voice exclusively can be too staccato and sound like a monotonous drumbeat. Inserting an occasional passive voice sentence will add some variety. In fact, in some situations, you may not have a choice or it would be awkward to use active voice.

Example (passive): “It is written, ‘Thou shall not use passive voice’.” I do not know if anyone has ever written that statement or not.

To change it to active would be awkward. “God, Shakespeare, somebody wrote, ‘Thou shall not use passive voice’.” The passive sentence has a certain mystique or quality that the active one does not have.

Emphasis

Another opportunity to use passive for emphasis is this example. Suppose you are writing an article on reasons why active is the preferred voice to use. One reason could be:

Example (passive): “Visuals are created in the reader’s mind by active voice.” Here the emphasis is on the reason, visuals. To change it to active: “Active voice creates visuals in the reader’s mind.” It is your choice.

Keywords

Here is where using passive is most profitable. As you know, emphasizing keywords is critical to SEO (Search Engine Optimization). As in the previous example, in the passive voice, you can bring those keywords to the forefront in your titles and in your opening paragraphs to capture the reader’s attention.

Example: Let us suppose that your keyword is “apple jelly”. In a title (passive): “Apple jelly is made from good apples.” To change it to active: “Good apples make good apple jelly.” But your keyword, “apple jelly”, may not be read because it is not at the forefront.

Do not abandon passive voice just because your teacher or some computer program tells you it is not the voice of choice. In some cases, it may be the voice of choice.

Article Writing Help for the Novice – 3 Tips

Article writing attracts new internet marketers because it is free and because it appears to be easy. Are you not sure where to start? This short article gives writing help for the novice.

In the beginning, you may find it easy to write about something familiar. It is not enough to put pen to paper or punch a keyboard and write a good article.

Although content is king, there are other factors to consider. Here are three tips to consider as you start your writing adventure and ultimately earn money from your efforts.

1) Title

Make sure your title grabs the reader so that he will want to read what you have to say. Use keywords in your title. Still, do not stuff your title with keywords. The title needs to make sense and it should promise the potential reader an answer to his spoken or unspoken question.

2) Keywords

Keywords are important. Without them, there is no exposure, no traffic to your site. Maintain a balance between content and keywords. You can easily insert keywords and keyword phrases in your content that are relevant to your content. Now that the search engines pay attention to Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI), there is very little reason to stuff your article with keywords or keyword phrases.

What is LSI? LSI is simply a search engine’s ability to find words related to your keyword not by definition of the keyword alone but more by the context of the keyword in the article.

LSI allows the author much more flexibility in his choice of words and, consequently, it allows an author the ability to write better content and still “sell” his product.

3) Brevity

Keep your articles short 300 – 700 words should be enough, of course, there are always exceptions. Remember that readers these days have a short attention span.

Read any documentation on web browsing and you will find that most web surfers do not spend more than a few seconds looking at a web page. Your article is no different.

There are many more hints and tips that can help writers improve writing skills and earn more money.

Do you want to learn more about article writing? This short article touches only the surface of the art and craft of article writing in internet marketing.

Besides learning the art of writing, you must learn how to market your product with your words and you must learn how to market your own article.

Do you want to learn more about article writing? How to improve your writing? How to make money, writing articles? Of course you do. You owe it to yourself to learn more about article writing and marketing.

Internet Marketing Tips – Do You Have to Be a Genius to Do This?

Do you have to be a genius to be a successful Internet marketer? It’s a pretty simple and straight forward question. The answer that I’m going to provide you with is probably going to surprise you in many ways. You might want to read what’s coming next. See, I am a genius.

No kidding. I was tested at an IQ of 148. That technically makes me a genius. However, the answer to the question I asked is going to surprise you. No, you don’t have to be a genius to be a successful Internet marketer. In fact, I’m not sure it even helps at all. Why do I say that?

When I first started doing this Internet marketing thing, I was a total failure. I made all of $28 in my first five months online. So obviously being a genius didn’t help me one bit. I had no clue what I was doing and it showed in my results.

See, it doesn’t matter how smart you are. Internet marketing is not a “smarts” kind of thing. It’s really very basic and by the numbers. Anybody who can read and understand simple instructions and hit a few keys on a computer can do this…successfully. The reason it’s not all that hard is because you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. You don’t have to think things to death. The basic concepts of marketing are simple. Find a hingry market, find a product that they want, and then give it to them in a way that makes them want to buy it.

And the beauty part of it is, you don’t have to think of this stuff yourself. Can’t write a sales letter? No problem. Go hire somebody who can. There are plenty of great copywriters who can write you a sales letter that will convert. Can’t write articles to get traffic? Hire somebody to do it for you. Once you learn the marketing techniques and what works to bring in traffic, there is no law that says you have to do each thing on your own. Do you think Donald Trump lays brick for every building he puts up?

Once you understand what is required to get a prospect’s attention and convert that prospect into a paying customer, the only thing left to do is execute the plan by putting all the pieces together. If that means you have to hire seven different people to put those pieces together, then do it.

You don’t have to be a genius to be a successful Internet marketer. What you have to be is motivated enough to get the job done.

To YOUR Success,

Tired of Emails?

I have been in this business over four months.  One thing I’ve learned: don’t sign up for every little free offer of a report or free e-book.  Why?  Look at my inbox.  I’m getting a gazillion messages offering more freebies.

Now I know that we all want to build our email lists so that we can sell our product.  Heck, even I have one on this site.  But, sending out autoresponder emails emails everyday?   Sometimes those offers are for the same thing.

At first, I read everyone of those emails and clicked through to see what was being sold.  Most of the links offered very similar product each in its own niche.  But how many gurus are out there?   What’s really annoying are the emails from one source that send you a shotgun splattering of unrelated offers.

There’s niche finding, article writing, secret tools, keyword tools, and the biggest of them all – LIST BUILDING.   One guy has sent 19 messages in 14 days.   Another has sent the same message with the same offer three times in two days.

I guess it works.  But it is very annoying.  You can’t call it spam because you opted-in.  You can always unsubscribe or wear out the delete key.

Lesson: Opt-in only if you really want the freebie that’s being offered.  Choose your purchases carfully.  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

PS:  You can opt-in on this site on the Free Stuff page!

Internet Marketing Newbies Fail 95% of the Time – Want to Know Why?

At this stage of my Internet marketing career, I am what is labeled as a newbie, a noob someone who knows very little abut Internet marketing of any kind. You and I know that Internet marketing has unlimited potential. Yet I also know that the latest statistics show that 95% of us “newbies” will fail. I know why.

Like many others that are just getting their feet wet. I have “opted in” to many an offer of free material that promises to help me make millions of dollars.  These offers come in all sorts of flavors they range from affiliate marketing guides, to affiliate marketing for beginners, to beginners marketing guides, and even newbies guide to affiliate marketing.

As newbies our learning curves are very steep. There is a lot of information to be digested and much of it is scattered throughout the Internet. It’s no wonder that so many fail at Internet marketing. You are distracted by all those offers of assistance. You are distracted by all the methods that you can apply to make you successful at Internet marketing. Internet marketing success is like a shotgun blast, there many ways (pellets) to hit the target.  For a no frills, no bull assessment of products visit: http://NewbieAffiliatesDirectory.com

Here is why we newbies are likely not to succeed at this business. As a newbie, after four months, I just now realized how much time I spend reading all those emails that I get. Do you? They offer me new ways and methods to make money online. Many of them come with free e-books and reports. Some offers ask for your e-mail to allow you access to the free give away; some don’t. Regardless, you download the files; you open up the freebie; and you start reading or viewing the information. The next thing you know, it’s lunch time where did the morning go?

What have you done to increase your revenue? What product or service have you exposed to the Internet and to potential customers today? How many websites or blogs have you created today?

That’s the bottom line – Customers. 95% of us newbies fail because we are to busy learning the hundreds of ways of making money, instead of choosing one and sticking with it until we are making money.

It’s time to delete those emails. If you can’t delete them, file them away, unread; and read them on the weekend or when you’re rich.

Another thing we do: visit forums. Forums are a wonderful place to ask questions and learn from more knowledgeable people and to socialize. Before you know it, an hour is gone, maybe two hours. You have read through all the threads on a topic that interests you and the day is gone.

What have you done to increase your bottom line? You say, “I’ve got to learn. I’ve got to read and ask questions. How am I going to make money, if I don’t know what to do next?”

We do have to spend time learning. The question is how much time. When do you put into action what you have learned? It does not matter that your knowledge may not be complete. Will it ever be? Most, if not all, of those gurus that are making those big bucks started at the bottom like you and me. They were once newbies. Let us not forget!

Submitting Articles Directly to Ezines

A lot of people don’t know that submitting articles directly to ezines is a wonderful way to supercharge article marketing efforts.

It makes perfect sense, but somehow this article marketing method is grossly overlooked by beginners and gurus alike.

Here’s the logic of why submitting articles directly to ezines is a powerful and effective strategy.

When you submit your article to an article directory (and you should) you are one of MANY other articles on the site.

Maybe your article will be found – maybe not.

But when your article appears in an ezine it is the ONLY article in that ezine.

So, every reader of that ezine can read YOUR article without the distraction of a million other articles all screaming “read me!”

Don’t get me wrong, article directories are great. But if you are marketing with articles, or want to, and are not submitting directly to ezines you are leaving money on the table.

I know that’s true because I’ve been there. When I was first a member of the DOE (Directory of Ezines) I submitted articles as often as I could. And it worked.

Effective article marketing is a BIG part of how I went from being a member of the DOE to owning the company.

How can you find the right ezines for your articles?

The DOE of course!

Between our database of ezines and the personal consulting I offer it’s the best value online.

Internet Marketing: Are You Pushing or Pulling?

Online marketing can be confusing. Nothing offline prepares us to work online, and terms like “autoresponder” or “solo ad” are foreign at best.

Let me help simplify things a bit.

There really are only two methods of marketing online.

Push marketing and pull marketing.

Once you see the difference you will better know where

You can level your learning curve by seeking a mentor or you can go it alone. Many choose to go it alone because they’re broke and they have heard the call of making fast money online. In ten days, in thirty days, you will be a millionaire. Some might, most won’t. Are you one of the many who won’t be successful at Internet marketing? Find out how not to be one the unfortunate many and what you should do first. Read this.

This is not about buying into some program or finding a mentor. If you’re broke, you don’t have the money to buy into a program and most mentors aren’t consulting for free. So forget that.

WARRIOR FORUM

The Warrior  Forum is one of the best support forums that I have visited.  Questions are promptly answered and replies are in one of two modes: WYSIWYG and a plain text.

It is moderated so that spamming is nonexistent.  There’s no bashing that I’ve ever encountered and the contributors are very helpful.  Reading their posts helped me level my steep learning curve.  Best of all, it’s FREE!

If you haven’t been there, preview their forum with this link.

THEMES

Creating your blog/website is made so much easier using a wordpress theme.  WordPress.org  has many themes to choose from.  But you don’t always find one that suits your needs.

Such was the case for this “blogweb” (we may have just coined a new word).  I downloaded a free wordpress theme from Nice2Create.com and proceeded to tweak it to my needs.  Needless to say, not knowing what I was doing, I ran into problems with the code.   The support I received from Nice2Create.com was excellent.   Visit them.  I’m not an affiliate.

 FREE PLUG-INS

I found a really neat website that offers a variety of FREE plug-ins that are WordPress compatible with very good documentation.  I downloaded Max Banner Ads.  I’m using it on this website.
