How to Use MS Word to Write Better and Improve Sales – 3 Tips

Would you like to write better and sell more? Sure, you would. You can. You can use MS Word to help you. This article will show you three simple yet often overlooked tips using MS Word to help you achieve clearer, better writing and make more money.

Here are three MS Word tools to improve your articles.

1. Check your spelling – This seems obvious. Still many do not use their spell checker. If you use a plain text editor to create your articles, you can easily overlook even the most common of spellings.

Simply copy your text from the plain text editor, like notepad or word pad, and copy it to your word processor and do a spell check. You will be surprised at the misspelled words you may have overlooked.

2. Write at a fifth to seventh grade level. – Use the MS Word Spelling and Grammar checker found under the Review Tab at the top of the MS Word page to determine the age level that you are writing for. After selecting the spell checker and completing the spell check, it will ask you if you want to continue checking the rest of the document.

Respond with yes and a box will pop up called Readability Statistics. At the very bottom of the box is the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level score. You want that score to be between fifth and seventh grade level. Most of your readers will read at that level. If it is a higher grade level, edit with simpler words.

3. Passive sentences – That same box will also give you the number of passive sentences in your article. You want to keep this at a minimum. You should keep passive sentences to no more than two or three for every five-hundred words. There is nothing wrong with passive sentences and there is no hard fast rule to the number of passive sentences you should use. But, you do want to make your sentences action oriented to help the reader move easily throughout the body of your article.

We have looked at three tips that you can use to improve the quality of your articles and ultimately salability of your articles. Keep in mind that content is king and no tools can create unique quality content like you can.

Easy Website Building – Newbies Beware! – The Most Overlooked Component

We have all seen them. Beautifully created websites with bells and whistles, all shiny and bright they shout glamour.  As a newbie, a novice, to Internet marketing you shrink at the prospect of your feeble attempt to create a professional looking website against all the competition.  I know. I have been there.  Fear not!

The most important part of web development but the least emphasized is marketing!  Words!  Let’s not forget content.  You may have the best-looking website on the block, but if your content is ineffective, there are no customers.  Not getting customers you soon get discouraged and its over.  You are finished.  You give up.

Building your first website is easy with today’s free easy website building tools.  Blogger.com, WordPress.com, and Wordpress.org are just three of the more popular website building tools available to create your website.  Within a few hours, a newbie can have a respectable looking website up and running.

For the novice, web design and web development are synonymous.  Web design leans more toward the presentation of the website.  While web development leans more to the functionality of the website.  Some may argue with those definitions.

Too often, the novice pays too much attention to the presentation of his website and not enough to its functionality.  You certainly want your website to be pleasant to the eye of the visitor.

Content is just as important as the presentation.   As a beginner, you often overlook this part of the equation.  I have seen some very basic looking webpages/websites with very compelling words.  Words that make me want to go pull out my credit card right now.

Never mind that they look like a child’s coloring book full of colors and different sizes of print.  They work or they wouldn’t be out there.  This is not to say that you do not want to have a nice looking website.  Yes, you do.

Beware of the “this is my baby” mentality and forget the main purpose of your webpage/website – SALES.  Pay as much attention to the word content of your website or webpage as you do to the visual presentation.

A good coaching program can guide you and teach you not only how to install the software, but also what to do with it once you have it installed.

More importantly, it can teach you how to make money with your new site using the right content.

WARRIOR FORUM

The Warrior  Forum is one of the best support forums that I have visited.  Questions are promptly answered and replies are in one of two modes: WYSIWYG and a plain text.

It is moderated so that spamming is nonexistent.  There’s no bashing that I’ve ever encountered and the contributors are very helpful.  Reading their posts helped me level my steep learning curve.  Best of all, it’s FREE!

If you haven’t been there, preview their forum with this link.

THEMES

Creating your blog/website is made so much easier using a wordpress theme.  Wordpress.org  has many themes to choose from.  But you don’t always find one that suits your needs.

Such was the case for this “blogweb” (we may have just coined a new word).  I downloaded a free wordpress theme from Nice2Create.com and proceeded to tweak it to my needs.  Needless to say, not knowing what I was doing, I ran into problems with the code.   The support I received from Nice2Create.com was excellent.   Visit them.  I’m not an affiliate.

 FREE PLUG-INS

I found a really neat website that offers a variety of FREE plug-ins that are Wordpress compatible with very good documentation.  I downloaded Max Banner Ads.  I’m using it on this website.
